Isuzu N Series trucks - Supply Pump

Recall of Isuzu N Series trucks fitted with 4HK1 engines produced from June 2005 through to June 2007. The fault relates to a possible diesel fuel seep or leak from the linkage pipe at the upper or lower fuel port on the diesel fuel supply pump.

Isuzu NLR model trucks - Steering Universal Joint

Recall of 2008MY NLR series. The fault relates to the steering yoke pinch bolt. This could cause damage to the universal joint contact area with the steering input shaft on the steering rack assembly.

Ford Transit RWD - Axle Shaft End Play

Recall of certain Transit RWD built from 15 March 2004 to 1 March 2006. Affected vehicles may exhibit a wear condition within the rear axle, between the axle shafts and the differential pinion shaft.

Alert: Reported deterioration of particulate filters - update

WorkSafe Victoria has updated its alert on deterioration of particulate filters published in June 2007.

This alert identifies a risk to users of particulate filters that may have deteriorated after being exposed to water. Deteriorated filters pose dangers to workers exposed to asbestos and other airborne hazardous substances.

Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) has relased an introduction of the new Wiring Rules, AS/NZS 3000:2007 defect listing and made it available online in a format enabling easy research.

Safety and health alert - Safety of suspended scaffolds

WorkSafe WA has released a safety and health alert on the use of suspended scaffolds.

Following a number of serious incidents around Australia, WorkSafe has reminded all persons
involved in supplying, installing or using swing stages of the risks associated with suspended scaffolds, and the control measures necessary to control these risks.

Historic inspectors exchange visit

Three inspectors from New Zealand’s Department of Labour have completed an historic exchange visit with SafeWork SA.

The first for labour inspectors in both countries grew from discussions at the International Association of Labour Inspection Conference held in Adelaide from March 12-14.

UK - Small reduction in fatal injuries no reason for complacency, says HSE

Provisional figures of work-related fatal injuries in Great Britain issued by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) reveal that 228 workers lost their lives as a result of accidents/incidents at work in 2007/08 compared to 247 workers in 2006/07. The report also shows a slight increase in the number of workers killed in the agriculture and a slight decrease in the construction sector.

UK - HSE and Council delighted at response to Aberdeen scaffolding event

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has welcomed the response to a safety seminar held in Aberdeen in conjunction with Aberdeen City Council. Over 200 delegates from the north east attended the event designed to promote safe use of scaffolding.

CANADA: Worker crushed by paving machine at Ottawa job site

A 30-year-old construction worker is dead after being crushed at a Ottawa job site. The accident occurred recently in the west end of the city. The worker was an employee of Torus Construction Limited, a firm subcontracted to Ottawa Greenbelt Construction.

US - OSHA forms partnership with contractors during the Lucas County arena construction project

The goals of a new partnership among the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Lathrop/Turner Construction Co. and the Lucas County Board of Commissioners are to reduce injuries and other worksite hazards, develop stronger training programs, and enhance safety and health during construction of the $105 million Lucas County Multi-Purpose Arena.
